The Amalfi Coast is an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values resulting from its dramatic topography and historical evolution.
From the reasons given when the Amalfi Coast was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997
La Conocchia
We are a volunteer association from Positano. We walk, look after and defend the mountains above the town: the paths, the woods and the terraces of the Monti Lattari.
This is the English version of our website. The diary, the by-laws and the membership form are in Italian.
The association
La Conocchia was founded in Positano in December 2018 to spread and defend the culture of the environment, with particular care for the public land of the Monti Lattari that falls within the territory of Positano.
Our mountains need to be looked after. We believe that the best way to protect and restore them is to love them, and that you cannot love what you have never seen. So we take people up there: walks, planting days, talks and projects open to the whole community, and above all to the young.

What we do
Walks, since 2019
Walking with La Conocchia
Three or four hours on the mountain paths, open to anyone who can walk them. The point is simple: to let people live, know and respect the mountains of the Monti Lattari park above Positano.
With the schools, every year
Tree Day
Every year, on the national Tree Day, we plant young trees on our mountains together with the children of the local primary school. They choose them, they put them in the ground, they come back to see them.
Project, since 2022
Clearing and maintaining the paths
Clearing and maintaining the mountain paths of Positano, and putting back the signs and the markings where they have been lost, with whoever wants to lend a hand.
Our diary
We keep a diary of what we do: the walks, the trees, the paths, the mountain in the seasons. It is written in Italian, and the pictures speak for themselves.

Become a member
Everyone gives what time they can, so the more of us there are, the more we can do. Membership costs 30 euro a year and is open to anyone who shares our aims.
Walk with us
You do not have to be a member to come along. Write to us and we will tell you when the next walk or the next planting day is, and what to bring.
